Human Embryo Carnegie Stage 16 and 17 Limbs
This image of two stages during Week 6 (GA week 8) of development compares the upper and lower limb development at this time.
- Hand and foot plates well developed.
- Rostro-caudal alignment of both hand and foot plates.
- Stage 17 embryo - the beginning of digital ray development in the upper limb bud hand plate.
- The lower limb bud appears less developed at each embryo stage.
- Features that appear on the upper limb appear on the lower limb about 2 days later.
