Cerebral Cortex
Mark Hill (talk) 10:01, 14 August 2017 (AEST) Ok group 1 you will need to put a topic to replace "To Be Determined" on this page before the next lab. I also want all members of the group to agree to the selected topic, rather than just one student driving the others.
OK Group 1 below are some starting places.
Neural Tube | Primary Vesicles | Secondary Vesicles | Adult Structures |
---|---|---|---|
week 3 | week 4 | week 5 | adult |
prosencephalon (forebrain) | telencephalon | Rhinencephalon, Amygdala, hippocampus, cerebrum (cortex), hypothalamus, pituitary | Basal Ganglia, lateral ventricles | |
diencephalon | epithalamus, thalamus, Subthalamus, pineal, posterior commissure, pretectum, third ventricle | ||
mesencephalon (midbrain) | mesencephalon | tectum, Cerebral peduncle, cerebral aqueduct, pons | |
rhombencephalon (hindbrain) | metencephalon | cerebellum | |
myelencephalon | medulla oblongata, isthmus | ||
spinal cord, pyramidal decussation, central canal |

The cerebral cortex sounds good to me
We could look into development of the cerebral cortex. Here is a link with an overview and how all 6 layers of the cortex originate from radial glial cells that migrate and differentiate into their perspective layers. http://www.hhmi.org/biointeractive/development-cerebral-cortex
