Introduction
These are the standard color names supported by most modern browsers. If the color matches the name, your browser supports the color name.
- Font colours are not used extensively on the site, except to identify labeled structures in animations and figures.
- Background colours are used in tables and banners.
In general use pale backgrounds for ease of access and readability. Use a darker variant of same colour for headings.
Accessibility - Do not "mix n match" lots of colours, as this all becomes confusing, and remember your red-green colourblind audience. As many as 8% of men and 0.5% of women with Northern European genetic ancestry have the common form of red-green colourblindness.
Font Colours
Each colour name is printed twice as some of the colors are so light that one cannot read the name when it is printed in that colour on the standard background. If you need to use light colours, consider setting a dark background for easier viewing.
These colour names may be used in various ways, for example in Tables or in simple HTML.
For example <font color=red> Some text in red</font>.
Note - wiki code uses American spelling "color" not Australian and UK spelling "colour".
