Albert Kuntz (1879–1957)

Albert Kuntz (1879–1957) was from the Laboratories of Animal Biology, State University of Iowa, Prof. Gilbert L. Houser, Director. He lLater moved to the Department Of Anatomy, Saint Louis University School Of Medicine.

During the early 1900's he wrote several papers on the development of the peripheral nervous system, sympathetic (autonomic) nervous system.

  • 1879 - born, Batesville, Indiana.
  • 1904 - A.B. degree, Charles City College
  • 1905-1908 - Professor of natural science, Charles City College
  • 1908-1913 - scholar (1908-1909), Ph.D. (1910), fellow (1909-1910), senior fellow (1910-1911) and instructor (1911-1913), Department of Animal Biology at the State University of Iowa
  • 1913 - Assistant professor of biology and histology, St. Louis University
  • 1918 - M.D. degree, St. Louis University
  • 1919 - Professor of Microanatomy, St. Louis University
  • 1930-1946 - Director of Microanatomy Aepartment
  • 1946 - Director of Department of Anatomy, St. Louis University.

Studied fish development while he was a visiting scientist at the United States Fisheries Laboratory at Beaufort, North Carolina, and the United States Fisheries Biological Station at Woods Hole, Massachusetts. Kermit Christensen wrote an obituary for him printed in 1957, in Proceedings of the Iowa Academy of Science, 64(1): 65-66.
