Coelomic Cavity - Abnormalities

Introduction

Intra-embryonic coelom week 3-4 (GA 5-6)

The intra-embryonic coelom (coelomic cavity) forms within the lateral plate mesoderm early in embryonic development (week 3-4 (GA 5-6). This single space then undergoes complex folding, partitioning and mesoderm-epithelia transition during the development of the 3 major body cavities. Portions of the wall of the coelomic cavity will also contribute to other organs (adrenal, ovary, testis).
