Plate I. Human Embryo 4 and 4.5 weeks Lower Limb Region

Two figures, repeated from this journal (Vol. 1, Plate II), to illustrate early stages in the diiferentiation of the inferior extremity.

Plate II, Fig. 1, represents the tissue differentiation in a section through the posterior limb-buds of Embryo 2. At the left the bud is shown cut through an area near the distal extremity of the coelom. At the right the cut is more dorsal and extends through the tips of the lumbar spinal nerves.

The human embryos used in this 1906 study were from Franklin Mall's Johns Hopkins University Collection that later became the Carnegie Collection.

Note that not all plates described in the paper are currently available online.
