Meckel's cartilage

Meckel's cartilage of the first pharyngeal arch. Showing intramembranous bone formation beside the original cartilage model. Note teh cartilage is not being replaced by bone, as in endochondral ossification, but it will later degenerate when the bony mandible forms.
