Epigenetic Mechanisms
Epigenetics are inheritance mechanisms that lie outside the DNA sequence of our genes.
- DNA methylation - usually associated with 5-methylcytosine (m5C), leads to transcriptional silencing in vertebrates.
- Modification of nucleosomal histones.
