Parental genome mix 01 icon.jpg
Movie shows initial parental genomes mixing in early embryonic mitosis.

In the mouse zygote, separation of chromatin according to parental origin is preserved up to the four-cell embryo stage and then gradually disappears.

This movie shows that up to the 4 cell stage in the preimplantation embryo, the distribution of the 2 parental genomes remain segregated. After this stage, there is a gradual mixing of the 2 genomes with each cell division.
