Mouse Respiratory E11 to E14 (44 to 60 somites)

The referenced article identified a thickening of the respiratory epithelium in a specific region before bending of that epithelium to commence a branch point. Mesoderm did not appear to have morphological changes associated with this process.

Mouse whole-mount immunohistochemistry using vimentin to mark mesenchyme (red) and E-cadherin to mark epithelium (cyan, blue) was used to characterize branching morphogenesis.
