The HTT protein of an unaffected individual will have 10-26 CAG repeats.
The HTT protein of an individual affected with HD, will comprise of an elongated polyglutamine chain comprised of 36-121 CAG repeats. The images on the right compare the brain of an unaffected individual (above) with one of a HD patient, with clear signs of neurodegenration.
