Drosophila Melanogaster Wild Type Head scanning EM

This normal (wild-type) fly head shows the typical arrangement of the head antenna. Now compare this with the mutant fly antennapedia head. This linked mutant image shows the basis of the discovery of the first "embryo patterning" genes in the fly that belong to the Homeobox transcription factor family.
