Cell Division and Fertilization

Introduction

This lecture will introduce two key concepts of biology, cell division and cellular sexual development. Both these concepts will also be explored further in the Thursday laboratory.

Objectives

  1. Identify the key features of cell division.
  2. Identify the stages and differences between mitosis and meiosis.
  3. Understand the differences in male and female gamete meiosis.
  4. Have a broad understanding of gamete fusion during fertilization.
