3. Somite Development - Sclerotome and Dermomyotome

Cells in the somite differentiate medially to form the sclerotome (forms vertebral column) and laterally to form the dermomyotome.


Note - the cartoons show just the embryo righthand side mesoderm development (the same events occur on the lefthand side).
