Mean for Placental Weight by Gestational Age
Data: Medical Birth Registry of Norway (1999–02) graph based on data within PMID 17516963.
Norwegian Society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology guideline "the placenta should preferably be weighed without the cord and membranes" (not identified whether this has been observed.
The weight is dependent on the amount of intervillous blood and blood in foetal vessels and that after some hours the weight is reduced by about 50 g.
