These mice have genetic mutations ( commonly FOXN1 gene) that causes a lack of activity or absent thymus gland. This results in a limited immune system as the resulting lack of T-cell formations and hence can be used in experiments for tumour grafts, as mouse will lack transplant rejection. These mice have genetic mutations ( commonly FOXN1 gene) that causes a lack of activity or absent thymus gland. This results in a limited immune system as the resulting lack of T-cell formations and hence can be used in experiments for tumour grafts, as mouse will lack transplant rejection. The xenografts are commonly used in tumour treatment and imaging in discovering new methods.
