Leslie Brainerd Arey

Leslie Brainerd Arey (1891-1988), Professor Of Anatomy At The Northwestern University Medical School, Chicago.

Leslie Brainerd Arey received his PhD from Harvard University in 1917. He came to Northwestern University Medical School, Chicago, in 1916, and taught here continuously for 73 years including still working in the Histology labs with us in 1987, just a few months before he passed away. As an histologist he published a textbook called "A Laboratory Guide in Histology" and "Human Histology" that saw 4 editions. The Leslie Brainerd Arey Chair of Biosciences was established by Mary E. Arey in memory of her husband.
