Reconstruction. Seen from the left. The coils are left in sitd in the opened umbilical sac. The abdominal colon and mesocolon form a median septum extending dorso-ventrally and up to the liver and attachment of omental bursa above. The small figures are tracings from sections through the model showing the increase in size of the umbilical colon in the caecal region. The sections pass through the colon at about the levels indicated by the arrows: the dotted surfaces are those of the cut intestine, which include part of the ileum in one section, while the position of attachment to mesocolon is indicated by dotted lines.
