Fig. 17. The fetal circulation and probable course of the blood through the fetal heart

The most highly oxygenated blood is contained in the vessels least shaded, the most completely reduced blood, in the darkest vessels, and four intermediate degrees of reduction due to mixing are indicated by four intermediate shades.
