Blood - Monocyte
(Stain - Haematoxylin Eosin)
- has a C-shaped nucleus.
- slightly larger than granulocytes (about 12-18 µm in diameter).
- cytoplasm stains usually stronger than that of granulocytes.
- cytoplasm does not contain any (light microscope) visible structures.
- a few very fine bluish gains may be visible in some monocytes.
- granules (visible in the EM) correspond to the primary granules of neutrophils (lysosomes). (More? EM - Monocyte)
- can leave blood and enter connective tissue where they differentiate into macrophages.
