Molecular mediators of androgen action on spermatogenesis
- a number of processes and molecular targets that are identified as potential targets of Sertoli cell-mediated androgen action.
- b Indicates the main steps in spermatogenesis affected by androgens.
The numbers in the centrally represented Sertoli cells (SC) (yellow) refer to the processes summarized on (a).
- blue - developing germ cells
- green - microtubules
- dark blue - intermediate filaments
- purple - tight junctions
- red - actin bundles - ectoplasmic specializations and a cistern of endoplasmic reticulum.
