Liver Histology - Portal Triad

A portal triad is a group of three vessels:

  1. a branch of the portal vein
  2. a branch of the hepatic artery
  3. a branch of the bile duct
  • Portal triads are embedded in interlobular connective tissue.
  • Also known as a portal system, when you include the associated lymphatic vessel.
