Skull Dolichocephaly and Scaphocephaly
- Dolichocephaly (Greek, dolikhos = long) and scaphocephaly (Greek, scaphe = boat)
- cranial vault deformities that result from premature fusion of the sagittal suture.
- resultant increase in the anterior-posterior dimension.
- restriction of biparietal growth.
3DCT volume rendered images. Left anterior (A), posterior (B) and endocranial (C) images
- white arrows - show fusion and prominent ridging of the sagittal suture
- *frontal and occipital bossing
Also note the increased anterior-posterior dimension and restricted biparietal diameter.
