Van der Woude syndrome with lower lip pits is one of the most commonly occurring syndromes associated with oral cleft. It is known to be transmitted as an autosomal dominant allele within the gene. The lower lip pits as evident in the picture on the right is the characteristic of the condition. The locations of these pits are found to be situated bilaterally in the lower lip where the dry and wet vermilion. They can be either oval or transverse in form.
