The Histology of Inner Ear

The cochlea which is a coil resembling a snail’s shell houses the organ of Corti, the peripheral receptor for hearing. Histologically the cochlea is divided into 3 parts scala vestibule, scala media and the scala tympani divided by the vestibular and basilar membrane respectively.
