Overview of the behavioral/cognitive phenotype of fragile X syndrome (FXS). The interrelationships among cognitive, behavioral and attentional deficits in FXS are modified by additional environmental influences and genetic background effects. Environmental influences include seizures, trauma, abuse and socioeconomic status.
