2015 Topics

--Mark Hill (talk) 16:20, 20 March 2015 (AEDT) This is the second time that medicine students have had an opportunity to contribute short projects to the Embryology website. I have also taken into account the limited time available during semester for submissions, by giving you time to work mainly the student break. (beat the Sydney winter blues)

This year I want students to prepare, make and upload their own multimedia page based upon a single topic from week 1 to week 3 of development.

Here are some ideas:
  • See Help:Student Movies.
  • Download and annotate one of the existing Embryology Movies (Week 1 | Week 2 | Week 3). Add your own labels, audio commentary, supporting diagrams and information, current research in this area.
  • Identify a research movie or sequence of images from a research article that can be annotated or animated to explain a developmental concept.
  • Make your own movie showing a developmental process from this period.
  • Your multimedia project page can have more than just a single video and can have supporting information, text, figures and references.
2014 Project Pages (not multimedia topics):
  1. Uterine Decidualisation - describing the early implantation changes to the uterus.
  2. Fetal Cells in Maternal Blood - describing these novel cells and their potential diagnostic applications.

These students received a certificate and a covering letter that could be included in their portfolio.

Getting Started

  1. Log-in to the embryology website using your student ID and Zpass.
  2. Click your student number (shown in red at the top right of the screen following log-in)
  3. Create page using the tab at the top of the page, and save.

You are now ready to begin editing your own page!

Multimedia

  • Movie files uploaded must be in MP4 format.
  • Movie files can include audio.
  • Movie files uploaded name must be brief, descriptive and include your ZID.
  • Movie files cannot exceed 20 Mb in size (you can upload more than a single file).
  • Read Help:Student Movies

Additional Information

  • I am looking for accuracy and novelty in submissions.
  • You can only work on your own page and no other existing online content (all edits are recorded).
  • Award pages may be further edited or renamed following competition completion (by the judge).
  • All non-awarded pages deleted (Individual feedback can be made available upon request).
  • These are online projects and not essays, include a balance between the text and visual elements.
  • Projects cannot include any more than one wikipedia image (preferably none).
  • All existing embryology website content can be used on your project page (with appropriate acknowledgement).
  • Externally sourced/added material must meet copyright conditions and all correct information to be supplied and associated with the added file.
  • The organiser will delete all non-complying material.
  • Uploaded files, other than text, cannot be deleted by student (contact organiser for content removal).
  • Students not complying with all the above conditions will be blocked from the website.
