Carnegie Stage 23

This movie shows an unlabeled coronal MRI scan (posterior to anterior) through a Kyoto embryo (stage 23, week 8). A labeled version of this movie will also be made available.

The size and position of the spinal cord and brain stem.
The paired dorsal root ganglia.
The early vertebral column.
The size and position of the lungs in the large pleural space.
The trachea bifurcating into the left and right bronchi.
The position of the heart and the outflow and inflow tracts.
The bright liver filling the entire ventral wall.
The position of the stomach embedded in the liver.
The position of the eyes.
The upper limbs.
Developing cortex and lateral ventricles.
The herniated midgut lying in a mass of coils outside the body wall.
