Human Embryo (CRL 10 mm)

Embryo 10mm surface icon.jpg

The CRL suggests an earlier stage embryo, though the external features (limb buds, pharyngeal arches) are those of Carnegie stage 17 (Week 6, 42 - 44 days, 11 - 14 mm). Note there is great variability in embryo measurements due to changes that occur with fixation. The arrow should also more accurately show CRL rather than greatest length.

The original model stands about 1.5 m high and is part of the Blechschmidt Collection.
