Summary
Step 4 in producing a transgenic organism. The sticky ends on the desired gene and on the cut oocyte DNA are matched. They are then sealed with a promoter sequence using DNA ligase enzymes. The oocyte DNA is now called recombinant DNA (recDNA). As the embryo develops and the recDNA read, it produces the necessary proteins for the embryo to acquire the desired characteristics of the other organism.
