Human Embryo Carnegie Stage 6

Carnegie Collection Embryo No.7801

This is a section through the human stage 6 conceptus showing development of the bilaminar (two layer) embryo and the early extra-embryonic coeloms (spaces).

Bilaminar embryo

epiblast - thickened columnar epithelium.
hypoblast -squamous epithelium.

Extra-embryonic coelom

amnion - lying above the epiblast later.
chorion - lying outside the primitive yolk sac.
