Neural Development

Cranial neuropore (cephalic, rostral or anterior) is the initial "head end" or brain end opening of the neural tube before it closes (humans approximately 24 days post-fertilization). The pore closes within a few hours; closure is bidirectional, it takes place from the dorsal and terminal lips and may occur in several areas simultaneously. The two lips, however, behave differently.
