The graph depicts six curves with different colors depict respective each myocardial segments of left ventricule (anteroseptum, anterior, lateral, posterior, inferior and septum). Systolic and early diastolic values of radial strain rate (SrRS and SrRE) were calculated. The graph shows that SrRE in the  posterior  segments  were significantly decreased in carrier and affected dogs when segmental values were compared with normal dogs.

Speckle Tracking Echocardiograph of a dog affected with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy

Echocardiograph - Two-dimensional speckle tracking echocardiography (STE) is a new non-invasive method used to detect myocardial dysfunction before the onset of clinical symptoms. It uses sound waves to produce a 2D image of the heart which is clearer than an X-ray image. The STE specifically assesses the function of the left ventricle of the heart in humans and in animals.
