Human Pharynx

  • nasopharynx - (epipharynx) upper nasal part of the pharynx is the uppermost part of the pharynx.
  • oropharynx - (mesopharynx) middle oral part of the pharynx extends from the uvula to the level of the hyoid bone.
  • laryngopharynx - (hypopharynx) lower part of the pharynx extends from the level of the hyoid bone to the lower level of the cricoid cartilage.

Below the pharynx divides into the larynx (anterior, respiratory) and oesophagus (posterior, gastrointestinal) parts.
