Pathophysiology of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome
An outline of the impact that hyperinsulinemia, and hyperandrogenemia have upon the development of polycystic ovarian syndrome. As can be seen, insulin resistance is often the precursor of hyperinsulinemia and can contribute to the development of chronic inflammation. Both hyperinsulinemia and chronic inflammation can cause hyperandrogenemia which is fundamental to the development of polycystic ovaries.
