Merocrine Secretion Animation

Secretion is similar to exocytosis where vesicles are released at the cell plasma membrane surface without any further loss of cell substance. One of the three characterised gland secretory mechanisms (merocrine, apocrine and holocrine).

Merocrine secretion associated with skin sweat glands that regulate body temperature.
