Human Embryo - Umbilicus (stage 17)
Kyoto embryo 16834 - Carnegie stage 17 (1 mm scale bar)
This ventral view of a week 6 (GA week 8) embryo shows the umbilical region with structures located within the umbilicus.
- mid-gut herniation showing a loop of the intestine cut in cross-section
- placental cord vessels showing vein and paired arteries
- note the small structure between the arteries is probably the allantoic
