Jose Francisco Rodriguez Vázquez, MD, DDS, PhD, was born in Madrid (July 17, 1958) is a researcher and professor (Professor and Chair) of human anatomy and embryology, Faculty of Medicine of the Complutense University, and corresponding academic the Royal Academy of Medicine.

His research has focused on the field of developmental biology, especially in the human craniofacial development, with outstanding input on the development of the middle ear, and cartilage of the first two pharyngeal arches (Meckel's cartilage and Reichert) . In this same area has studied the relationship between the middle ear and the temporomandibular joint, making ligament discomalleolar systematization and its decisive contribution for the development at the close of the middle ear in humans, hitherto unknown, and related to one central theme of evolutionary biology of mammals.

He has authored over one hundred articles in the field of embryology. He is currently director of the Institute of Embryology at the Complutense University. He develops the institutes research activity with an intense teaching activity that began as a boarder by opposition Anatomy in 1977 at the Department of Anatomy, Faculty of Medicine, University of Granada, where he remained for two years as assistant professor of practical classes up his move to Madrid where he was professor (1985) and attained by opposition the place of university professor (2000) Department Human Anatomy II, which he directed and in which exercised its teaching among other professors Federico Olóriz Aguilera ( 1883-1912), Julian de la Villa (1923-1951); and Francisco Orts Llorca (1954-1975) and Juan Jimenez Collado (1977-2002), of which is a continuation of teaching in depth anatomy and Bilogía science that studies the changing forms during its life cycle ( Orts Llorca anatomical school).
