How to Search Databases for Project Sources
Note that you have the option of searching for articles through the UNSW Library databases and I encourage you to do so as this option will allow access to more full text papers (through the UNSW subscriptions) that available directly through PubMed. Note that having full access to the paper does not mean that you can then use any content without permission (see Help:Copyright Tutorial). On the UNSW Library homepage, under the Search window click "Sign into myLibrary for full access" and use your Zpass information in the new window. Finally, you will still have to locate the paper's PMID to use the automated referencing available on this website. This can be easily done by entering the paper's title in the PubMed search window.Journal Searches | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Below are shown some easy methods, with examples, for setting up simple searches of PubMed and other Journal databases. In most cases, you simply need to replace the existing term (embryo) where it appears in Wiki code with your own. Note there may also be additional "Advanced search" options available within these sites.

PubMed Central Image Searching
PubMed Central (PMC) is a reference database containing full text references that everyone can read. (Just because you can read it does not mean you can use it)
PMC also contains other references that cannot be reused.
- Papers made available by journals for use only in PMC.
- Draft papers required by law to be deposited in PMC by authors who have received government or other research funding.
PMC also contains references that can be reused.
- These papers when opened will clearly display the copyright notice and usage restrictions.
The search function below lists all images (both can and cannot be reused) and you need to then find the usage rights in the original paper.
- Here is an image search link for integument click the link to see the results.

Reuse Journals
Some information about Journals
Journal reuse information can change over time, please check the original article for specific copyright information. Some journals also have some restrictions as to when you can reuse, such as "6 months after publication".
Some good reuse sources to start you off:
- PLoS Journals
- BioMed Central Journals (some variety in reuse conditions for different journals)
- Biology Open
- Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences 6 months after original publication date. Developmental Biology section
