ANAT2341 Lab 3: Introduction | Week 3 | Week 4 | Abnormalities | Online Assessment | Group Project

Project Development

As I mentioned in today's Lab, you all now have selected a topic (system) to cover for fetal development. I would like your own group members to come up with a "draft" structure for your page, using just the sub-headings, that can be later changed.

Project Hints

Here are a few helpful hints. There is also additional online editing help.

  • Divide the project up into sections or parts that individual group members will now research. (Later everyone will contribute to all sections and you can help other members/sections with research you have found)
  • Add your planned sub-headings to the topic page. (Note that this can change as you go along and know more about your system)
  • Add your research findings and links to the discussion page. (Identify that you have added the information by your signature)
    • While you can mention embryonic development (week 1-8) that has gone before this is not the focus of the project.
  • Add references as links (PMID number) or even webpages, movies, content images as links that you would like to use. ( And also so group members can also see what you have found)
  • Do not worry about formatting content on your page yet. (this will be done later in the project timeline)

Images

  • From research and review articles that allow reuse and should be added in the same way as in Assessment 2. (Must include the same renaming, reference and copyright information) Copyright Tutorial
  • Not from the internet should be avoided as most either do not allow reuse and do not identify the original source.
  • From your own drawing if you find a relevant image that you cannot use, redraw or reorganise and acknowledge the original source image. ("image based upon....")
    • Draw on a powerpoint slide and export the slide as a picture.
    • Draw on a piece of paper, photograph and upload the photo.

References

  • Search the PubMed reference database and add the formatted reference. Reference_Tutorial (If you want to just add quickly paste PMID XXXXX, replace the Xs with the number)
  • Identify reviews and research articles. (they must be separated to identify in your project)
    • Review articles - do not contain original findings or research but are good sources for overview of a topic. Can be used and identified by "as reviewed in" or "see review")
    • Research articles - contain original findings or research and should be cited in your project content when you describe a finding.

Searching

  1. Here is a search link for Integumentary Embryology click the link to see the results.
  2. Here is the code for the above link [http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/?term=Integumentary+Embryology Integumentary Embryology]
    1. Your search term can be a single word or words joined by + (there cannot be any spaces until you have the term you want to show)
    2. Review articles can be identified in the actual reference or filtered in the lefthand menu.
    3. Full text and full free text articles can also be filtered in the lefthand menu.

  1. Here is a search that shows the latest 5 articles published on Integumentary Development
  2. Here is the code <pubmed limit=5>Integumentary Development</pubmed>
