Magnified 15 diameters. The embryo is represented as transparent. Hyp., hypophysis; L., rudiment of larynx; N., nasal cavity; Oe., oesophagus; Thym., thymus; Thyr. m., median thyroid rudiment; Tr., trachea; V. P.I, V. P.II, V. P.IIIand V. P.IV, flrst, second, third and fourth visceral pouches.


This embryo (CIX) has a neck-breach length of 10.5 mm and a vertex-breach of 11 mm It is about 33 days old and so would be an embryo of the latter part of the fifth week.
