A. Normal mice contain the gene UBE3A which ubiquitinates neuronal proteins Arc and Eph-5, resulting in proteasomal degradation

B. UBE3A deficient mice exhibit abnormal dendritic spine morphology due to the activation of RhoA. This is a direct result of Arc and Eph-5 not being degraded as they have not been tagged by UBE3A.
