Typical blood islands are seen in the wall of the yolk sac on the left side of the photograph. Vascular spaces are visible in the lower part of the figure. They contain a few free corpuscles, or are quite empty, vasculogenesis being more advanced in the abembryonjc region than at the circumference. Section no. 31. x 100.
