The abdominal colon is shown as a median septum with its mesocolon, deflected to the left (in D) after the return.

The colon is supposed to be divided at about the region of the colic angle, and the proximal limb in front of the duodeno-jejunal bend in A and B, and through the bend in D.

Observe how the pancreatic growth carries the base of attachment of the mesentery of the loop out to the right, allowing room for the flexure in its lower concavity, and making possible the relation of the vessels to the transverse part of the duodenum.
