Fetal Polyhydramnios

Polyhydramnios (amniotic fluid disorder, hydramnios) refers to an excess volume of amniotic fluid.

Fetus (GA week 33) normal anatomy in polyhydramnios (ICD - O40 Polyhydramnios Incl.: Hydramnios).


Fetal Causes
Decreased Fluid Swallowing or Absorption Increased Fluid Production
  • Lung disorders
  • Multiple pregnancy
  • Hydrops fetalis
Maternal Causes - Poorly controlled diabetes.
