Ectopia Cordis

Ectopia cords (extrathoracic heart) is a rare anomaly with a prevalence of 0.08/10,000 live births. Has also been associated with pentalogy of Cantrell.

Four types have been identified:
  1. thoracic (65%)
  2. thoraco-abdominal (20%)
  3. abdominal (10%)
  4. cervical (5%)
Three types of heart covering have been identified:
  1. uncovered (41%)
  2. serous membrane (31%)
  3. skin (27% )
