Canine Newborn with Cleft Palate

Bulldog pup (day 0) with cleft palate.

  • primary palate (maxilla) has fused
  • secondary palate (palatal shelves) have failed to fuse in the midline
  • oral cavity abnormally communicates with nasal cavity.
  • palatal rugae
