Complete absence of on of the X sex chromosomes is the most common cause of Turner Syndrome. Union of a 22 chromosomal female egg (22 autosomal and no sex chromosome) with a 23 chromosomal sperm (22 autosomal and an X sex chromosome) creates a 45-chromosomal zygote, rather than the normal 46.
