Introduction

This page lists the slide sets used in teaching Histology to undergraduate Medical and Science Students in the Department of Anatomy.

New Embryology Site

New 2011 Histology

Note that the overall composition of slide sets will change with time. These slides are used to show both developing and adult tissues using typical histological stains. Additional demonstration slides are used in classes. Slides should be viewed in relation to the types of tissues that are developing in the embryo.

About View Slides

Please Note - due to size restrictions these slides are not available on the UNSW Embryology CD only the online version.

In the table below clicking on the View Slides option will open an unlabelled PDF image (requires PDF Reader) of the listed Histology slide at different magnifications (Microscope magnification differs from those in Lab). These images were originally prepared as a project by 2 medical students (Imran Marzook and Kevin Lee) to help with your histology revision and have security that prevents their alteration or printing.

View Sample Slides by Tissue

Below are links to sample images of Histology slides by Tissue.

Epithelia | Connective Tissue | Muscle | Nerve | Cartilage and Bone | Glands |

Please Note - due to size restrictions these slides are not available on the UNSW Embryology CD only the online version.

Each section of Notes on page 5 has a list of relevant slides to that system. No attempt has been made in this current Program to give full histological descriptions of slides. Many Universities have also begun to list some histology slides with descriptions (see WWW Links).Note that all internet links change with time if link does not work use text shown to search WWW.

The School of Anatomy UNSW has an excellent Histology Program under development "The Fabric of Life", for more details contact Dr B. Freeman.
