Human Embryo Integument (stage 22)
Epidermis is formed as two cell layers
- peridermal cells (outer layer)
- basal cells (underlying layer)
Histological section of the human embryo surface showing a simple epithelium at this stage of development.
The underlying connective tissue layer is far more extensive and is vascularised.
